Attendance Allowance - How Does It Work?
Attendance Allowance is a benefit provided by the UK government to help people with the extra costs of having a disability or health condition that requires care or supervision.
It is non means-tested, which means it doesn’t depend on your income or savings. It’s tax-free, and you can spend it however you like - to pay for care, mobility support, or to help maintain independence at home.
To qualify for payments, you must be over State Pension age, have a disability or illness that requires help with personal care or supervision and have needed help for at least 6 months. You cannot claim if you are already claiming PIP / DLA / Adult Disability Payment.
Please have a look at the attached guide which provides more detail about the potential payments as well as information about how to apply for Attendance Allowance.
